Recently, the New Orleans Saints fell back into the loss column with a tough defeat against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris. Team owner Gayle Benson hasn't been shy about sharing her thoughts on the team's lack of success so far this year, at one point calling the product on the field “unacceptable.”

However, the Saints owner struck a different tone with an open letter to fans in the wake of the Steelers loss.

“As we return home, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to each of you who traveled to France to be part of this historic Saints game. Your presence made the occasion even more meaningful to me and our entire organization,” she wrote on the Saints' official team website.

“While the outcome on the field was not what we had hoped for, we have much to be proud of from our time together. We represented the New Orleans Saints, our beloved city and the entire state of Louisiana with class and pride on an international stage,” read another part of the statement.

Fans and reporters were quick to notice the different demeanor that Benson had as compared to her previous public statements.

“Last two communications from Gayle Benson aren’t necessarily incongruent, but they are very different in tone. No idea how the last two games would change the temperature, but loss seems waved away in latest statement,” wrote Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, Benson's public comments have been a bit all over the place so far this year, as has the team's play on the field, as the Saints currently sit at 2-5 on the season.

New Orleans will next hit the field on November 8 vs the upstart Cleveland Browns.
