The Indiana Pacers have gotten off to a lackluster start to the 2026-27 season, currently sitting at 2-2 ahead of Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Earlier in the day on Wednesday, things went from bad to worse with a tough injury update regarding franchise cornerstone Tyrese Haliburton.

“Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton has sustained a left hamstring strain and will miss time, sources tell ESPN. Pacers doctors and Haliburton are now gathering a clear timeline,” reported NBA insider Shams Charania on X, formerly Twitter.

It's certainly a tough break for Haliburton, who is just a few games into his return from a torn Achilles that he suffered in the NBA Finals in 2025 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Haliburton has looked good in the few games he's played so far this year, looking to have retained almost all of the quickness and shiftiness that made him such a tough cover before the Achilles tear, and the hope is that the hamstring injury isn't anything that will keep him out of the lineup for too long.

Meanwhile, Haliburton is one of several big-name players to have already gone down with an injury so far this year, with Oklahoma City Thunder wings Cason Wallace and Jalen Williams, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, and numerous others already having suffered significant setbacks this season.

The good news for the Pacers is that they accumulated plenty of experience last year playing without Haliburton and should have a good plan in place for the foreseeable future if he has to miss a lot of time.
