The Cleveland Brown shave been one of the surprising teams in the league this season, as they're currently 5-2 and one of the best teams in their conference. The one player who is leading the charge for them is Deshaun Watson, who continues to raise the level of his game every week and is looking like the quarterback everyone remembered from years ago.
His play has put him in Comeback Player of the Year conversations, and he hears the noise surrounding it.
“It's always cool. You always acknowledge it a little bit. You build confidence off of it,” Watson said via ScottPetrak of the Chronicle-Telegram. “It's a long season; week in and week out, we have to continue to perform and play. I just wanted to be the guy I've always been. Play football, be free, have fun and enjoy it. This is definitely a year I've been able to have fun and enjoy the position I'm in, so it's definitely a blessing. Just taking it one day at a time.”
If Watson continues to play at this level, there's no doubt that he'll be taking home that award at the end of the season. For now, the main focus is to keep stacking up wins, and the Browns have been doing that in dramatic fashion.
The Browns have had some close wins, and Watson has been the catalyst for all of the wins with his late heroics. Sometimes it doesn't matter how you win, as long as you can get the job done, and that seems to be what the Browns are on right now.
At some point, they're going to want to play a complete game of football, and they'll have a real test coming up this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are also 5-2 in the AFC North.
