PITTSBURGH -- Sometimes, you have to get the out anyway you can. Even if that means going between your legs with your back to your intended target.
Pirates first baseman Ryan O'Hearnàshowed off his flair Saturday night at PNC Park against the Royals, flipping the ball between his legs to Brandon Eisert to record the out at first base in the top of the fifth inning. A run scored on the sacrifice bunt from Michael Massey, but OâÂÂHearnâÂÂs action looked more like that of a between-the-legs slam dunk than your typical first basemanâÂÂs antics.
With his body turned away from the base, OâÂÂHearn kept his head perfectly positioned at Eisert charging down the first-base line. ItâÂÂs not fair to call the play a no-look pass, but a between-the-legs dish is just as nice.
