Pete Crow-Armstrong and the Chicago Cubs have more hardware to celebrate. Just days after helping Chicago win the National League Team Gold Glove, the Cubs’ center fielder was named the 2026 NL Platinum Glove Award winner.
Rawlings announced the honor on Friday, with New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger taking home the American League Platinum Glove. The award recognizes the best overall defensive player in each league, chosen from the pool of Gold Glove winners.
Crow-Armstrong earned his place in that group by winning his second straight Gold Glove in center field. It was hardly a close call at the position. He led the league with 26 Outs Above Average and 10 Defensive Runs Saved, cementing his status as one of the most dynamic defenders in baseball.
What made his 2026 season even more special was what he did at the plate. Crow-Armstrong hit .280 with 45 home runs, 107 RBIs and 41 stolen bases, joining the exclusive 40/40 club. It was another big step forward for the 24-year-old, who has quickly developed into one of the brightest young stars in all of baseball.
He was far from the only Cub who shined with the glove. Alex Bregman won his first Gold Glove as a member of the Cubs at third base, becoming the first Chicago third baseman to win the award since Ron Santo. Ian Happ, Dansby Swanson and Seiya Suzuki were also named finalists, giving the Cubs five Gold Glove finalists, tied with the Toronto Blue Jays for the most in the majors.
As a team, the Cubs led the league with 115 Outs Above Average and 73 Defensive Runs Saved, earning their second straight NL Team Gold Glove. The Blue Jays took home the AL honor.
Article Continues BelowDespite the elite defense, Chicago’s season ended earlier than hoped. The Cubs finished 89-73 and were eliminated by the San Diego Padres in the NL Wild Card Series.
Still, the future looks bright on the North Side with Crow-Armstrong leading the way.
With his rare combination of power, speed and elite defense, he has established himself as one of the most complete players in baseball, and the Cubs will be counting on him to lead a deeper postseason push in 2027.
