The Notre Dame football program is currently gearing up for this weekend's big clash against the Miami Hurricanes at home. This game will be a matchup of two top-ten teams, and the Fighting Irish can essentially guarantee themselves a playoff spot with a win.
Any matchup against the Hurricanes starts with game planning for star wide receiver Malachi Toney, who has once again been among the best in the country at his position this year.
Recently, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman was asked if he could think of any comparisons for Toney's game from his own playing days.
“I played against Percy Harvin,” said Freeman, per Pete Sampson of The Athletic on X, formerly Twitter.
Sampson also reported that Freeman noted “how good Toney is moving around formations, catching the ball at different depths,” and that, “he went into it thinking the guy should still be in high school. Thought he'd be good but not otherworldly.”
“You see him in person and you go, ‘Oh my gosh. He is the real deal,” said Freeman.

Meanwhile, this game will afford Freeman and company the opportunity to pick up a signature win this season after they previously fumbled that opportunity against BYU.
Kickoff between Notre Dame and Miami is set for 7:30 pm ET on Saturday from South Bend.
