The Chicago Bulls are ready to get the season rolling. They don't want to waste any precious time, with the season starting in just a few weeks.

On Friday, they took part in a scrimmage at the Advocate Center in Chicago. The practice was lively, with plenty of highlights. One of them was Noa Essengue, who threw it down with an emphatic slam in transition.

“Down the lane with force!” the Bulls posted on their X (formerly Twitter) page.

Seeing Essengue on the floor in full force is a welcome sign of relief. Last year, Essengue's rookie season was halted due to a shoulder injury. He later had to undergo surgery. Altogether, Essengue played in two NBA games before joining the Windy City Bulls in the NBA G League. Before his injury, he averaged 23.0 PPG and 8.5 RPG.

Overall, Essengue endured 6 to 7 months of rehabilitation following his surgery before being cleared to take part in non-contact activities in March 2026. Then, he took part in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas in July.

Essengue, 19, hails from France and is still waiting to play a full NBA season. At the same time, he is about to fill his role alongside a young, aspiring core looking to make an impact.

An impact that was felt at practice.

The Bulls' practice was full of positive energy.

In addition to Essengue, all of the major players got some shine and smiled along the way. Obviously, Caleb Wilson was doing everything there was to do. He took pull-up jumpers and attacked the rim. Matas Buzelis was energized as he got up. Dailyn Swain was having a good time.

Then, Jalen Smith capped off the practice between Team Black and Team Red with a game-winning shot.

It seems the Bulls, looking to rebuild and start a new chapter, aren't settling for anything less. And that practice actually, for once, means something.

The Bulls begin the preseason against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the United Center at 7:00 pm CST/8:00 pm EST.
