Who will be the first NFL head coach fired this season?
While Monday Night Football between the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons still lies ahead, the NFL is through nearly four weeks of the 2026 NFL season. Three teams — the Kansas City Chiefs, the Minnesota Vikings, and the San Francisco 49ers — are undefeated, and three teams are without a win to open the season.
And NFL fans believe one of those winless coaches is likely the first to be fired this season.
Following Sunday’s slate of games, we asked NFL fans on the new NFL Feed a poll question: Which coach was likely the first to be fired? Six options were available: Jim Harbaugh of the 0-4 Los Angeles Chargers, Matt LaFleur of the 2-2 Green Bay Packers, Nick Sirianni of the 2-2 Philadelphia Eagles, Aaron Glenn of the 1-3 New York Jets, DeMeco Ryans of the 0-4 Houston Texans, and Todd Bowles of the 0-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
While voting is still open, this is not exactly a situation where you need Steve Kornacki at the touchboard to break down the incoming returns. At the time of publication with an overwhelming 48% of the vote, Bowles led the way:

Which head coach is most likely to get fired first?
The NFL is just about done with the first quarter of the season and seats are heating up for coaches around the league.
The winless Bucs, Texans, and Chargers are three of the more surprising developments to date. All three could turn things around, but until then, you have to think Todd Bowles, DeMeco Ryans, and Jim Harbaugh all have some questionable job security.
The Jets are 1-3, and while expectations are generally low, it wouldn't be surprising to see them change coaches ... again.
The Eagles and Packers both sit at 2-2 coming out of Week 4, and neither fanbase is particularly hope with their head coaches. Nick Sirianni has a Super Bowl to his credit, while Matt LaFleur ranks seventh in win percentage among active head coaches. And yet I know you could find some among both fanbases that would not shed a tear if either was fired.
The Dolphins and Titans are both winless as well, but both have first year coaches in Jeff Hafley and Robert Saleh, so we're leaving them off this list for the time-being.
Who of these coaches will be the first to get fired?
While the poll only allowed for six options, other coaches mentioned in the discussion included Zac Taylor of the 2-2 Cincinnati Bengals, Dan Campbell of the 2-2 Detroit Lions, and Dan Quinn of the 1-3 Washington Commanders.
