Free-agent guard Kevin Porter Jr. could receive another opportunity in the NBA, with the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings emerging as potential destinations after the Milwaukee Bucks waived him before the 2026-27 season.
Both teams are monitoring their backcourt situations and could consider pursuing Porter as circumstances develop, NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported Monday. Milwaukee parted ways with the 26-year-old after two seasons because of a crowded backcourt rotation and the league's 15-player roster limit. Denver had reportedly submitted a trade offer for Porter before the Bucks released him, but Milwaukee declined it.
Porter remains hopeful of earning another opportunity in the league despite receiving offers from overseas teams following his previous stint with Greece's PAOK. However, his inability to qualify for a two-way contract could complicate his search for a new team, meaning a move might not happen immediately.
The 2019 first-round draft pick has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers and Bucks. During the 2025-26 campaign, he averaged 17.4 points, 7.4 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game while shooting 46.5% from the field and 32.2% from three-point range. However, a right knee injury that required surgery limited him to 38 appearances.

The Nuggets could also benefit from another offensive contributor beyond Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, the team's only players averaging more than 13.5 points per game in the early stages of the season.
