Max Strus and the LA Clippers' hopes of getting this season started on the right foot suffered a major blow on Monday afternoon. Literally.

Guard Max Strus appeared to suffer an injury to his right foot during Sunday's preseason opener against the Golden State Warriors and immediately went back to the Clippers locker room. Strus did not return to the game, and the Clippers simply called it a right foot injury.

On Monday, the team announced that Max Strus suffered a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot during Sunday’s preseason game against the Warriors and will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks.

To be clear, that is a re-evaluation date and not an expected return-to-play date, so there is a potentially lengthy absence in store for Strus and the Clippers.

In a video captured by a fan on social media, Strus can be seeing taking a step and then immediately hobbling on a non-contact play. The Clippers immediately called timeout to get Strus out of the game, and now the full extent of his injury has been made clear.

Strus played just five minutes before exiting the game with the injury. He finished with just one rebound and shot 0-of-1 from the field.

Unfortunately, Strus is no stranger to missing the start of the NBA season. This will now mark the third consecutive season that he will miss the beginning of due to a foot injury.

In 2024, Max Strus missed multiple weeks due to a right ankle sprain. Then in 2025, he missed most of the season with the Jones fracture in his left foot. Now in 2026, he is expected to miss multiple weeks with the partial plantar fascia tear.
