There’s no doubt that Trevor Lawrence’s confident take about the Jacksonville Jaguars was well-founded. He helped his team win despite a sea of flags. And Lawrence has convinced ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky, who is all-in on him and the Jaguars, according to posts on X by the Pat McAfee Show.
“I think the Jaguars are as good as anybody in the AFC,” Orlovsky said. “I think Kansas City is right there. (And) I think those are the two best teams in the AFC. Is it sustainable? Yes.”
Are the Jaguars a real Super Bowl threat?
Orlovsky certainly seems to think so. And it starts at the quarterback position.
“(Lawrence) has insane timing right now,” Orlovsky said. “He is cutting the ball so loose to everybody. He pairs plays so well from week to week to week. He’s got such tendency breakers. They’re really talented from the perimeter perspective.”
And there’s more.
“They’re legit,” Orlovsky said. “I think the best and most underspoke unit in football right now is Jacksonville. We get caught up in the offense. But I’m telling you the defense is just as impressive. It’s a well-coached football team.”
Article Continues BelowThe Jaguars are 3-1, standing in first place in the AFC South. Head coach Liam Coen said the defense is a big part of it. And takeaways matter in that regard, according to news4jax.com.
“I’d like to believe it’s a part of our DNA at this point,” Coen said.
And cornerback Travis Hunter has been a key part of the defense.
“He played his (butt) off,” Coen said. “We had some things for him on offense that we didn’t feel like putting him out there because, if he gets hurt on offense, we’re in a real bad spot. We didn’t want to put ourselves at risk there.”
Next up for the Jaguars is a pair of London games. They will play the Eagles in Week 5 and the Texans in Week 6. Then they get their bye week. If the Jaguars are still flying high entering their bye week, this could be shaping up to be a special season.
