It was a tough loss for the Las Vegas Raiders against the Chiefs. And Klint Kubiak stood firm in his decisions in the game. However, Kubiak also called himself out after his first career loss as an NFL head coach, according to a post on X by Vegas Sports Today.

“Wanna give credit to KC, give credit to our team,” Kubiak said. “I put it on myself. I’ve gotta do a lot better job of putting players in position—scheme them up better. We’re telling each other the truth.”

The Raiders suffered their first loss of the season and fell to 3-1. Meanwhile, the Chiefs stayed unbeaten and took over sole possession of first place in the AFC West.

Raiders trying to regroup after tough loss

Kubiak had to deal with taking points off the board in what wound up being a 3-point loss, according to NBC Sports.

“Obviously, there’s a point there where I took three points off the board, and we were going to be aggressive going into the game,” Kubiak said. “I don’t regret it. I regret not getting it.”

Kubiak said the loss was tough, according to The Athletic.

“Wish we would have won the game,” Kubiak said postgame. “We’ve got a lot of hardworking guys that care about winning, and fell short tonight.

“We were gonna be aggressive for the game. Sometimes, you win in those situations. Sometimes, you go the other way. That’s part of being a competitor and doing what you feel is right in the moment.”

Raiders QB Kirk Cousins said the players didn’t get it done.

“You play through the smoke,” Cousins said. “You give yourself a chance at the end of the game. That’s what happened today, and we just weren’t able to capitalize.”

The Raiders will get a chance to bounce back in Week 5 as they travel to take on the Patriots. That’s an important game with the Bills and Rams on deck after that.
