The Atlanta Falcons entered Monday Night Football aiming to even their record by topping the New Orleans Saints. But witnessed one scary moment involving star linebacker Za'Darius Smith on Saints quarterback Tyler Shough.
Smith injured his neck and head area during this first quarter moment inside the Superdome.
A medical cart came out for Smith. However, he rejected going on the cart, showing signs of movement. Smith even stretched his arms out forward and starting to clutch his hands into a fist to show signs of having feeling there.
Atlanta managed to avoid a frightening NFL Injury sight. And Smith's Falcons led 7-0 during that moment.
But Atlanta lost its top pass rusher during that scary sequence. Smith entered with 2.5 sacks this season. He also came over to new head coach Kevin Stefanski following one season with the Philadelphia Eagles. And he brought with him three past Pro Bowl appearances, two of which came during his run with the Green Bay Packers.
Atlanta entered this NFC South showdown fresh off delivering a massive week three win on Thursday Night Football over the Green Bay Packers. The Falcons managed to avoid the early 0-3 start in the Stefanski era by delivering an epic 35-14 romp at Lambeau Field.
