Nearly two months after the Chicago Bears signed DE Marcus Davenport, he is no longer part of the team.

On Monday, Chicago officially confirmed Davenport's release from the roster just before they play the Green Bay Packers this weekend, per Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team. Davenport had requested to be released.

He had played in only two games. Davenport played on Sept. 20 against the Minnesota Vikings and Oct. 4 against the New York Jets. On Sunday, in a 23-12 Bears win, Davenport logged 12 defensive snaps, one tackle, and one pressure. Now, Davenport is an unrestricted free agent any team can sign if it wants additional depth at defensive end.

Davenport, 30, has been in the league since 2018. He has played with the New Orleans Saints, Vikings, Detroit Lions, and the Bears. Overall, he has played in 77 games, recording 25 sacks and 164 combined tackles. He also played in four playoff games with the Saints during their 2018 and 2020 runs.
