Philadelphia Eagles offensive guard Landon Dickerson appeared unaware of the team's decision to bench quarterback Tanner McKee in favor of Joe Milton III ahead of Sunday's Week 9 matchup against the New York Giants.

The Athletic's Brooks Kubena shared Dickerson's surprising reaction Thursday via X, formerly known as Twitter, after the veteran offensive lineman was asked about Philadelphia's quarterback change.

“Asked about the QB change, Eagles LG Landon Dickerson says, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’”

According to Kubena, Dickerson explained that Milton and McKee had split repetitions during practice throughout the week. However, he was unaware that the coaching staff had already decided on a new starter.

When asked whether he understood that Milton would start against the Giants, Dickerson responded:

“Not to my understanding.”

The comments came one day after NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that Philadelphia would make a change at quarterback following another disappointing stretch of games.

“The #Eagles are making a QB change: It’ll be Joe Milton III for Sunday’s game against the #Giants, sources tell @AdamSchefter and me.

Less than a month after signing in Philly, Milton takes over for Tanner McKee.”

Philadelphia enters Week 9 with a 2-6 record, having lost six consecutive games as its offensive struggles continue.

McKee has started three games this season, losing all three while throwing just two touchdowns and two interceptions. His inability to generate consistent offensive production has prompted the Eagles to explore another option under center.

Milton, meanwhile, will have an opportunity to make his first start with Philadelphia after joining the organization less than a month ago.

The former Tennessee standout last made a regular-season start with the New England Patriots during the 2024 season against the Buffalo Bills.

Milton delivered an impressive performance in that contest, completing 22 of 29 passes for 241 yards and one touchdown while adding a rushing score without committing a turnover.

Now, Philadelphia hopes Milton can provide a much-needed spark as the organization attempts to salvage its struggling season.

The Eagles will host the Giants (4-2-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on Fox.
