The Green Bay Packers are getting closer to having their best defensive player back on the field. Micah Parsons returned to practice Wednesday and continued participating Thursday, marking another important step in his recovery from a torn ACL and meniscus suffered last season.

Parsons is one of the best defensive players in the NFL, and his return could give Green Bay's defense another dimension heading into the second half of the season. However, Packers fans will have to wait a little longer before seeing him play.
Green Bay is not expected to activate Parsons for Sunday's matchup against the New England Patriots. Instead, the organization plans to use the entire 21-day practice window to get him back into football shape. The Packers are targeting their Week 12 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 25 as a potential return date.
That approach makes sense considering how important Parsons will be to Green Bay's playoff hopes. The four-time All-Pro is coming back from a Torn ACL, and the Packers cannot afford to rush him onto the field before he is ready.
Still, seeing Parsons back at practice is an encouraging development for a team that has managed to stay competitive without him. Green Bay is 5-3 and remains in the NFC playoff picture, giving the defense a chance to get even better as the season progresses.
If the Packers can keep winning before their Week 11 bye, Parsons could return to a team with legitimate postseason aspirations. His presence would give Green Bay another elite pass rusher and make life much more difficult for opposing quarterbacks.
The Packers have already shown they can compete without their biggest defensive star. Getting Parsons back for the stretch run could make them an even tougher team to beat.
