The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently in the early stages of the MLB free agency period, which got underway earlier this week. Priority number one for the Dodgers will be re-signing star pitcher Tarik Skubal, whom the team acquired from the Detroit Tigers in a blockbuster deal midway through this past season.

However, even if the Dodgers aren't able to bring back Skubal this offseason, pundits won't exactly be abandoning ship on Los Angeles' title chances moving forward.

“They're loaded with unbelievable talent. They have the pitching, even if Skubal leaves,” said Harold Reynolds of the MLB Network, also revealing the Dodgers to be his pick for the 2027 World Series, via MLB Network on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, even before acquiring Skubal last season, the Dodgers were already the odds-on favorites to win the World Series for the third year in a row. Of course, that all ended up crashing and burning in the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers, with Shohei Ohtani and the rest of the team seemingly running out of gas as they tried for a second straight title defense.

Skubal is sure to have plenty of suitors on the free agent market this year, although Los Angeles may have the upper hand in those negotiations, having shown a willingness to outspend the competition since Mark Walter took over the team.

Still, even if he ends up taking his talents elsewhere, the Dodgers will still have as much firepower and pitching depth as any team in the league and have to feel good about their chances of making it back to the mountaintop next season.
