With the Los Angeles Angels having new ownership led by Stan Kroenke, who is also an owner of the Los Angeles Rams, there is speculation about how the team's direction under him will start. As the Angels look to make their first move under Kroenke's ownership, this MLB insider discusses the potential of them going after star pitcher Tarik Skubal.

While Skubal was traded last season to the Los Angeles Dodgers after close to seven seasons with the Detroit Tigers, where he won two AL Cy Young Awards, Jim Bowden throws it out that he could stay in the city.

Bowden would say on CBS Sports that “a lot of baseball people” are waiting to see what the Angels do, especially with Kroenke's other teams, like the Rams, making big moves, like this year, when they traded for defensive star Myles Garrett.

“I'll give you a couple other teams that might surprise you a little bit, but a lot of baseball people are waiting to see what the owners in San Diego and Angels are going to do,” Bowden said. “The Angels just got bought out by Stan Kroenke. We know how much money he has spent with the teams he owns, including the Rams. Will he make a ridiculous offer? One thing that we do know: when it's all said and done, there will not be a pitcher in baseball that makes more money ever in the history of the game than Tarik Skubal.”

The first calls that Stan Kroenke and the Angels should make

The Angels have work to do this season in still searching for their new manager and general manager, with league insider saying that the first move Kroenke should do is make calls to the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays.

Those calls would involve interviewing executives Matt Arnold in Milwaukee and Erik Neander in Tampa Bay, to get some of the World Series ‘architects,' calling it a “more meaningful” move than getting Skubal.

At any rate, it remains to be seen what moves Kroenke makes for the Angels and if they will pursue Skubal.
