On Wednesday evening, the Charlotte Hornets continued their ugly start to the season with a tough road loss at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets. Things went from bad to worse in this one when shooting guard Kon Knueppel exited the lineup with an apparent hamstring injury.
This game marked Knueppel's first contest of the season after he missed the first several games with the same issue, and now, the team has gotten a rough update on his status moving forward.
“Hornets say Kon Knueppel has a left hamstring strain and will miss Friday’s game against Boston. Knueppel made his debut last night but exited the game early in Brooklyn due to ongoing problems with his hamstring strain,” reported ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel on X, formerly Twitter.
Article Continues BelowIt's been a tough start to the season for the Hornets, who have not exactly vindicated their decision to trade LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves over the summer. Knueppel nearly won the Rookie of the Year award last season, shattering the rookie record for three pointers made in a campaign, but his ongoing injury issues have spelled major issues for the Hornets so far this year, as the team is shooting below 30 percent from beyond the arc so far in 2026-27.
It remains to be seen how long this injury will keep Knueppel out of the lineup, but things certainly won't get any easier for the Hornets with Friday's game against the Celtics. Tipoff for that one is set for 7:00 pm ET in Charlotte.
