Kelsey Mitchell is not ready to commit to her future with the Indiana Fever after the team's season ended in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.

Mitchell, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent, said during Indiana's exit interviews that she needs time to determine what comes next after spending her entire nine-year WNBA career with the Fever.

“Kelsey Mitchell on being an UFA and returning to Indiana: ‘It’s too early for me to really tell what I need to do,’” WNBA insider Khristina Williams shared Saturday via X, formerly known as Twitter.

Williams added that Mitchell said she has to be “selfish” about what is best for herself and her family as she gets older. Mitchell plans to have the necessary conversations before making a decision and credited Indiana with shaping who she has become, calling her future “TBD.”

Mitchell's uncertainty comes after the 30-year-old produced the best regular season of her career. She averaged a career-high 24.7 points along with 2.8 assists, 1.7 rebounds and a steal across 44 games. Mitchell shot 50.9% from the field and a career-best 45.0% from 3-point range.

Mitchell's production helped Indiana finish 28-16, improving from its 24-20 record in 2025. The Fever secured the No. 6 seed before facing the defending champion Las Vegas Aces in the first round.

Indiana forced a deciding Game 3 with a 99-89 victory Tuesday but could not complete the series upset. The Fever fell 94-83 on Thursday as Mitchell led Indiana with 23 points. She averaged 20.3 points during the three-game series.

Mitchell also made WNBA history during the regular season, finishing with 1,086 points after surpassing A'ja Wilson's previous single-season scoring record of 1,021.

Indiana also faces uncertainty surrounding head coach Stephanie White. Williams reported that White expressed a desire to return but acknowledged the decision belongs to the organization.

“At the end of the day, it’s their decision about whether I return or not,” White said.

White added, “I’d love the opportunity. I love this franchise … and I hope to continue to be the coach.”

With Mitchell approaching unrestricted free agency and White's status unresolved, Indiana enters the offseason with significant decisions surrounding two key figures from its 28-win season.
