Just days before his new Apple TV Matchbox release, John Cena has secured another new movie gig. According to a recent report by Deadline, Cena is set to team up with Stranger Things star David Harbour in the upcoming comedy, The Family Disappears.

Deadline reported that Fifth Season is set to produce The Family Disappears, starring two-time Emmy winner David Harbour and former WWE Superstar John Cena. The film is based on an original script by Brendan O'Hare; while a comedy film, it will also have thriller undertones. “The Family Disappears follows an overworked dad who returns from a work trip to find his family has disappeared and a mysterious newcomer has bought and moved into their home,” Deadline wrote while describing the film's synopsis.

Fifth Season is the studio behind the film. Nick Weidenfeld via Friends Night and Alexis Garcia via CAT5, who collaborated to produce the Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd comedy Friendship, worked for Fifth Season and A24. Production for the film is set to begin in Atlanta, Georgia, on Nov. 10, 2026.

Both Cena and Harbour are veteran actors with numerous projects under their names. While Harbour is well-known for his role in DTF St. Louis and a few MCU films, he is widely remembered for his role in Netflix's hit series, Stranger Things.

On the other hand, Cena retired from pro-wrestling last year and is now completely focused on his Hollywood career. He earned his first Emmy nomination this year as executive producer of Prime Video’s action comedy Heads of State. He was also most recently seen in Coyote vs. Acme and Little Brother.
