The Winnipeg Jets opened training camp without one of their top players, goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck did not report to camp, leading to his suspension. The star netminder decided to not report after requesting a trade from the franchise in the offseason.

Now, general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff is speaking out about the situation, per hockey insider Frank Seravalli.

“No door is closed, it's a player that's under contract and under contract for five years. It's his choice,” Cheveldayoff said about the possible return of Hellebuyck. “To think that a teammate couldn't walk back in that dressing room and continue to compete, I don't believe that.”
