A representative for Philadelphia 76ers forward Jaylen Brown is disputing Brian Scalabrine's comments regarding the end of Brown's tenure with the Celtics. On Monday, Brian Scalabrine speculated on his SiriusXM NBA Radio morning show, The Starting Lineup, about the starting lineup and Brown's “request” to be traded.

“My understanding is that Jaylen Brown went to the organization and had a list of demands, and it was like, ‘You either do this or you trade me.' He was rooting to get traded to Milwaukee (Bucks),” said Scalabrine.

But he then walked back his comments on the pregame show for the Celtics' Tuesday evening matchup against the Chicago Bulls.

“To be fair, after the 48 calls I fielded today, and I listened, he technically—technically—didn't demand to be traded,” said Scalabrine. “I just summed it all up. I summed up the entire word salad and kept it simple, but I think that's what kind of got me in trouble. I didn't get to the bottom of all of that. I didn't even know that this was gonna be a thing. It's one of those things that lived in my mind for months. I finally used it because we're talking about the weirdest stuff, and now, it's out there.”

Following the incident, Philadelphia 76ers ESPN reporter Kris Rhim took to his X account to report that an unnamed representative for Brown's team refuted Scalabrine's assertions.

“A representative from Jaylen Brown’s team told ESPN that reports that he demanded a trade or presented the Celtics with a list of demands are ‘10000% a lie.' Brown never requested a trade to Milwaukee, the representative said. After the deal fell through and Boston informed him he’d be traded, his only request was to have input on his destination.”

The Celtics eventually traded Brown to the 76ers for Paul George and draft compensation in July.
