Don't look now, but Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars may be legitimate Super Bowl contenders. The Jaguars blew out the Baltimore Ravens 33-10 on Thursday night, improving to 6-2 while extending their NFL-best point differential to a whopping +108. That is nearly double the next-best team, which is the San Francisco 49ers with a +58.

Lawrence did not have the best day statistically as he finished with 242 yards and a touchdown. Nevertheless, the Jaguars quarterback was still serenaded with MVP chants by a sizable section of Jags fans who made the trip to Baltimore.

Lawrence finished fifth in MVP voting last season as he led the Jags to a 13-4 record with over 4,000 yards passing and 29 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. This season, he is on pace to throw for 4,100 yards and 41 touchdowns with a potentially similar record. With a relatively easy schedule the rest of the way, owing to a weak AFC South, there's a chance they could claim the top seed in the AFC.

There does not seem to be a truly standout MVP contender this season, which could end up benefitting Lawrence. At the moment, he, Brock Purdy, and Josh Allen project to have similar cases as the quarterbacks for the best teams in the league. If Lawrence can lead the Jaguars to the best record in the NFL while leading the league in touchdowns, he could make a compelling MVP case as the league's new quarterback star.

But talk of Lawrence for MVP is much too soon. With half the season remaining, there is still a lot that can happen, and a lot that Lawrence still needs to prove.
