The Dallas Cowboys are struggling in the 2026 season, with a 3-5 record. A main reason for this has been their play on defense. Quinnen Williams has been a major bright spot for this defense. Outside of him, though, Dallas has not had a lot of success on that side of the ball.

Dallas is coming off a rather tough loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona entered this game having struggled mightily on offense. They had scored 30 points in a game just once this season. However, they put up 33 on Dallas, and they won the game. Williams pointed to his defense when discussing his team's struggles on Wednesday.

“We’re the problem. We’re the reason we’re losing these games. If we execute, we can be the reason why we win,” the Cowboys star said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic.

As mentioned, Williams has been a major bright spot. He has racked up five sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and 29 total tackles this year. He leads the team in sacks and tackles for loss by a wide margin. Despite this, he says he has to be better, and that he is not free from blame for Dallas's defensive shortcomings.

“I'm part of this defense; I’m the reason why we’ve given up touchdowns in the fourth quarter. I’m the reason why we haven’t been stopping the run as well. And I got to do better,” he said.

The Cowboys have a chance to get back on track in Week 9. They are heading to Indianapolis to take on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon.
