Florida football wide receiver Vernon Brown III has played banged up while becoming a touchdown threat. Now he's doubtful right before facing Oklahoma.

ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel revealed the status of Brown by releasing the injury report Wednesday. His pending status surely will impact whatever offensive plan coach Jon Sumrall formulates for Saturday.

Sumrall is already in an apologetic state following Florida's performance against Georgia. The Gators fell badly in ugly fashion with a 27-8 loss in Sumrall's first taste of the historic rivalry.

That loss left fans believing that Florida would go unranked once the College Football Playoff rankings became unveiled on Tuesday. But Florida turned lots of heads instead, by earning the 24th spot. The 5-3 Gators are even ahead of one-loss Boise State. Florida is one of three different teams ranked in the CFP poll despite having three losses; the other being Oregon and Florida's SEC rival South Carolina.

So Florida still holds a chance to make it into the field of 12. Even appearing in the SEC Conference Championship game isn't officially out of the picture either. Florida owns an 11% chance of becoming one of the dozen that earns a postseason bid, per ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) rankings. However, the Gators own just a 0.7% probability rate of winning the SEC.

Georgia (41.7%) and Alabama (17.4%) claim the highest chances of playing in Atlanta with the conference crown on the line. But Florida also owns a 14.9% opportunity to win out per the FPI system.

Now they're facing a Sooners team that fired offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle and will debut Jason Witten as the play-caller.
