Washington Wizards rookie AJ Dybantsa could make his highly anticipated NBA debut Wednesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers after missing the team's first four games of the 2026-27 season with a left ankle sprain.

The Wizards (2-2) listed Dybantsa as questionable on their latest injury report Wednesday morning ahead of their matchup against the Cavaliers (2-1) at 7 p.m. ET on Monumental Sports Network.

Dybantsa, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, has yet to appear in a regular-season game after suffering the injury during Washington's preseason finale against the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 16.

The rookie injured his ankle during the first quarter after attempting a midrange jumper. He was helped to the locker room and did not return to the contest.

Before exiting, Dybantsa recorded 12 points, two rebounds and one block in 14 minutes. Washington ultimately suffered a 107-106 loss to New Orleans.

His questionable designation leaves open the possibility of making his debut against Cleveland, although the Wizards have not confirmed whether he will be available.

Washington will also be without several players Wednesday as it attempts to bounce back from Monday's 110-103 loss to the Charlotte Hornets.

Justin Champagnie has been ruled out with a right foot injury, while Tristan Vukcevic remains sidelined with left hip impingement. Jamir Watkins is also out as he continues recovering from left ACL repair surgery.

Dybantsa's potential return would provide another offensive option for a Washington team looking to establish consistency early in the season.

The Wizards entered the campaign with increased expectations following the additions of Trae Young and Anthony Davis, alongside a young core featuring Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George and Bub Carrington.

After splitting their first four games, Washington will conclude its two-game road trip against Cleveland.

Dybantsa's final playing status will be worth monitoring closer to tipoff as the rookie looks to make his first official NBA appearance.
