The Minnesota Wild just concluded a five-game road trip, going 3-1-1. One of the major reasons for the success was the play of Quinn Hughes. On Sunday, Hughes scored the game-winning goal for the Wild against his former team, the Vancouver Canucks. On Tuesday night, he added another two points against the Utah Mammoth in the 3-1 win.

With another two points for the Wild, Hughes is setting a franchise record, according to Michael Russo of The Athletic.

“Quinn Hughes (62 GP) became the fastest player in Wild history to record 20 multi-point games with the franchise, surpassing Pavol Demitra (66 GP),” Russo posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Hughes has played 14 of those 62 games this season, with the other 48 coming last year. He already has six multi-point games this season. Demitra set the franchise record when he joined the team for the 2006-07 season. He played just two seasons with the Wild before heading to the Canucks.

Meanwhile, Hughes is also having a historic start for a defenseman.

“Quinn Hughes (3-15—18 in 14 GP) became the third defenseman since 1992-93 to record 18-plus points in a single October, following John Carlson (7-16—23 in 2019) and Cale Makar (4-15—19 in 2024),” Russo added.

Hughes has three goals with 15 assists this year, giving him 18 total points. John Carlson has the record for most points by a blueliner in October, racking up 23 points in 2019 with the Washington Capitals. Cale Makar is second with his 19 points in 2024 with the Colorado Avalanche.

Hughes has one more game in October to pass Makar and Carlson, as the Wild host the New York Islanders on Thursday. Meanwhile, another blueliner is also having a historic start this year. Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard, who scored a game-winning goal against the Wild this year, has already racked up 21 points. Five of those points came in September when he put up three goals and two assists against the Canucks on the NHL's opening night. Bouchard has 16 points in October and has two games left to try to catch the three men in front of him for history.
