The Cowboys (3-4) take the field Sunday at AT&T Stadium against the Cardinals (2-5) looking to build on the momentum from their win Monday Night over the Eagles. Dallas sits second in the NFC East, one and a half games behind the Giants. Arizona sits in the cellar in the NFC West already four games behind the 49ers.
Dallas’ win 38-21 Monday night was its most encouraging performance of the season. Dak Prescott threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns without an interception, including two scores to CeeDee Lamb, as the Cowboys erased a 21-20 third-quarter deficit and scored the final 18 points. We buried the headline, however. Javonte Williams rushed for a career-high 155 yards and a touchdown, helping Dallas pile up 204 rushing yards.
Arizona’s latest loss illustrated one of its biggest problems. The Cardinals produced 353 yards and controlled the ball for more than 33 minutes against Denver, but went just 1-for-5 in the red zone in the 30-16 defeat. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 27 of 48 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown, with Trey McBride catching 10 passes for 111 yards and the score.
Offensively, Dallas has been considerably more productive, averaging 27.0 points and 353.6 yards per game, compared with Arizona’s 20.3 points and 313.9 yards. The Cardinals do own the better turnover differential at plus-2, compared with minus-3 for Dallas, giving Arizona one potential route to an upset Sunday.
Dallas’ biggest storyline Sunday is whether the Prescott-Lamb passing game and Williams-led rushing attack can sustain the balance they finally showed against Philadelphia. The Cardinals have been one of the best teams at winning the time of possession battle but one of the worst in the red zone. They must find a way to turn their long drives into touchdowns.
Recent history is important here, particularly because Arizona has repeatedly caused Dallas problems of late. The Cowboys lead the all-time series 56-36-1, but Arizona has won four straight regular-season meetings. Arizona won 27-17 in their most recent meeting against Dallas on November 3, 2025. That last meeting has particular relevance because Brissett and Prescott were also the quarterbacks: Brissett, starting with Kyler Murray sidelined, went 21-of-31 for 261 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for a score, while Prescott threw for 250 yards with one touchdown and an interception and was sacked five times. Arizona committed no turnovers, Dallas committed three, and the Cardinals converted three of four red-zone possessions into touchdowns.
Let’s dive into the numbers and see if we can’t find an additional sweat or two.

Our model calculates projections around each moneyline, spread and over/under bet for every game on the NFL calendar based on data points like past performance, player matchups, betting trends, and weather forecasts.
Once the model is finished running, we put its projection next to the latest betting lines for the game to arrive at a relative confidence level for each wager.
Here are the best bets our model is projecting for Sunday’s game between the Cowboys and the Cardinals:
- Moneyline: NBC Sports is staying away from a play on the Moneyline.
- Spread: NBC Sports is recommending a play on the Cowboys -7.0.
- Total: NBC Sports is leaning towards a play on the Game Total OVER 54.5.
Here’s why the Cowboys -7.0 is the best bet:
The case is built on an Arizona defense that cannot get off the field. The Cards rank 32nd in points allowed (29.71 per game), 32nd in touchdown percentage allowed (6.19%), 31st in yards per play allowed (6.68), 31st in yards per pass attempt allowed (9.03), 31st in yards per reception allowed (14.19), and 29th in passing touchdowns allowed (2.43 per game). Their point differential of -66.0 ranks dead last in the NFL. Dallas, meanwhile, ranks 7th in offensive DVOA (10.9%), 5th in points scored (27.0 per game), 5th in touchdowns (3.14 per game), 4th in touchdown percentage (5.0%), and 1st in sack rate allowed (2.56%). That’s an offense that finishes drives, and it’s facing a Cardinals defense that has surrendered touchdowns on 17 of 24 red-zone trips. The head-to-head history is the one caution worth respecting: over the last four meetings, Arizona is 4-0 straight up and 4-0 against the spread, with an average final of Cardinals 29.5, Cowboys 16.2. That’s a real trend against this play — but those games featured different rosters, and this Arizona team is 2-5 with the worst point differential in football.
Top Player Prop: Cardinals vs. Cowboys
Trey McBride Anytime Touchdown
This is a plus-money play at most books. McBride is the Cardinals’ most-targeted pass catcher, and the structural case for him to find the endzone is strong. He’s cleared this 0.5 touchdown number just twice in his last five games, but his projection sits at 0.63 touchdowns — above the line for Sunday’s game. Overall, it is all about the matchup. The matchup is the reason to like it. Dallas ranks 25th in passing touchdowns allowed (1.71 per game) and 23rd in touchdown percentage allowed (4.77%), and the Cowboys have allowed 12 passing touchdowns through seven games. McBride just posted 111 yards on 10 receptions against Denver — the volume is there, and at plus money you only need one red-zone look to cash.
