The Chicago Bears are currently gearing up for a big Monday Night Football matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on the road. The Bears will be coming off a long week in this one, having last played last Thursday night in a home win over the New England Patriots.
On Wednesday, the Bears got a big update on a key member of their offensive backfield ahead of that matchup.
“Bears running back Kyle Monangai (turf toe) has missed the past three weeks, but his chances are better of playing this week,” reported NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
In Monangai's absence, D'Andre Swift has been left to do a lot of the heavy lifting in the running game for the Bears, but having him back should help more evenly distribute the workload for head coach Ben Johnson.
Meanwhile, quarterback Caleb Williams has picked up right where he left off since returning from an injury of his own, eviscerating the Atlanta Falcons and the Patriots en route to two straight comfortable wins to improve the Bears' record to 5-2 on the season, and second place in the NFC North behind only the Minnesota Vikings, who remain the last undefeated team in the NFL this year.
Article Continues BelowThe running game was a huge part of the Bears' success a year ago, so having Monangai back for Sunday's game against a Seahawks team that just completely shut down the Kansas City Chiefs will be a big boost for Chicago.
In any case, kickoff between the Bears and Seahawks is set for Monday evening at 8:15 pm ET from Seattle.
