The New York Liberty host the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday in what will be their final regular season game, and All-Star forward Breanna Stewart is on the injury report as questionable due to left knee soreness, as per Alexa Philippou of ESPN. Stewart is coming off a strong performance on Tuesday despite a loss to the Dream, in which she finished with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Considering Breanna Stewart is listed as questionable on the Liberty’s injury report, a final update as to whether or not she plays likely won’t be made official until right before the game. The Liberty currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the league standings, but a win against the Dream can move up the up a couple of spots.
Stewart has played in all but one game this year for the Liberty coming into Wednesday’s season finale, at just about 33 minutes per game. The eight-time All-Star has been averaging 20.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocked shots with splits of 47.4 percent shooting from the field, 25.4 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 84.1 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
With the Liberty still fighting for playoff positioning, there’s a chance that Stewart plays, although the team might still want to get their best player some rest before the postseason tips off this coming weekend.
