Michael Porter Jr. will carry the scoring load for the Brooklyn Nets in the upcoming season. While the Nets added Julius Randle, Porter is expected to be the focal point of the offense.

Porter has been putting in the work, aware of the fact that he needs to add more to his arsenal to remain effective, especially since opposing teams will zero in on him.

The 28-year-old forward shared that he and Klay Thompson of the Miami Heat recently had a workout together. Porter admitted that Thompson humbled him during a shooting drill.

“Bro, I used to think that I was the best shooter. Not anymore, dog. He beat me by one spot. It was close,” said Porter on a livestream, as posted by NBA Central on X.

“After the workout, he was like, ‘It's been so long since I've shot against someone who challenges me.' That's how I felt. I never get to work out with someone who challenges me.'”

Okay, obviously, Porter was not really that humbled. He still had to lowkey flex.

Last season, the one-time champion averaged career-highs of 24.2 points, 3.0 assists, and 1.1 steals on top of 7.1 rebounds in 52 games. He shot 46.3% from the field, including 36.3% from the three-point range.

The 36-year-old Thompson, on the other hand, experienced the exact opposite. He tallied career-lows of 11.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 21.7 minutes in 69 games. He will try to regain his old touch with the Heat.

Both Porter and Thompson have gone through major injuries.

The Nets will heavily rely on Porter, Randle, Day'Ron Sharpe, Egor Demin, and Mikel Brown Jr. as they look to pull off a surprise in the Eastern Conference.
