The Tennessee Titans made one of the biggest moves ahead of the 2026 NFL trade deadline, sending star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears for two first-round picks. That means now, with two picks in Round 1 of the 2027 NFL Draft, the Titans have a chance to significantly improve the roster. So, let's take a look at the Titans' ideal 2027 NFL Draft targets with their own and the Bears' selections.
Titans' draft targets with their own pick
At 1-7 heading into Week 9, the Titans will have one of the top picks—if not the No. 1 selection—in the 2027 NFL Draft. With a top-three or -four slot, here are the Titans' draft targets at the top of the board. What they shouldn't do is draft a quarterback. Cam Ward is playing better of late, and the truth is, the 2027 QB class is now not all what it was cracked up to be.
WR Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State
Jeremiah Smith is the best player in this draft class, and arguably one of the best college prospects in the last half-decade or so. No matter what team gets the top overall pick, they will have a hard time passing on Smith unless they desperately need a QB. And even then, the Buckeyes' pass-catcher may still be the smarter selection.
With Carnell Tate starting to come into his own and Elic Ayommanor still just 23 years old, the Titans could help Ward immensely by taking Smith and adding him to this young stable of wideouts that will look like a basketball team with the addition of the 6-foot-4 Smith.
EDGE Colin Simmons, Texas
In the latest ClutchPoints' 2027 NFL Mock Draft, the Titans get the No. 2 overall pick and take Texas edge-rusher Collin Simmons, who is one of—if not the—best defensive players in this draft. Simmons is a beast of the edge and leads the nation with 10.5 sacks and 16.0 tackles for a loss. That comes on the heels of his SEC-leading 12.0 sacks from last season.
Veteran OLB Jacob Martin is having a surprisingly productive season with 6.5 sacks this year, but having a young, elite EDGE is worth its weight in gold. After losing Simmons, the Titans can start to rebuild their defense around another elite defensive lineman, albeit at
OT Jordan Seaton, LSU
If the Titans don't get one of the top two picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, they can start looking at their needs and deciding between relatively equal targets. Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore, South Carolina EDGE Dylan Stewart, and LSU offensive tackle Jordan Seaton are all among the options, but for the Titans, Seaton would be best.
With Peter Skowronski and JC Latham in place on the right side of the line, Tennessee needs to upgrade the left side. Seaton is an NFL-ready LT who will seamlessly slide into Dan Moore Jr.'s spot and stay there for the next decade.
Tennessee targets with the Bears' 2027 NFL Draft pick
The Bears kick off Week 9 with a 6-2 record, and after the Jeffery Simmons trade, they should be able to not only make the NFC playoffs, but make a deep run as well. That means the Titans will have their second first-round pick toward the end of Day 1, and in that case, here are the prospects to target.
OL Trevor Lauck, Iowa
Whether or not the Titans take Seaton with their first pick, the offensive line still needs upgrading. That means a player like Iowa offensive lineman Trevor Lauck should be in play here. Lauck is 6-foot-5, 314 pounds, and should have guard/tackle flexibility at the next level. That makes him a valuable asset for any team, especially a franchise like the Titans, who will be better able to make a decision on Ward with better protection up front.
Article Continues BelowDT Justin Scott, Miami
With the pick that the Titans got from the Bears in the Jeffery Simmons trade, why not take another defensive tackle to build around? Right now, it seems as though Ole Miss' Will Echoles and Tennessee's Xavier Gilliam are in Tier 1 of the DT rankings. After that, there are several excellent prospects in Tier 2, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder here.
Justin Scott can dominate the line with his elite speed and quickness. The 6-foot-4, 303-pound lineman needs to get stronger and could put on more weight, but he has athleticism you can't teach. If Scott isn't the Titans' style, though, they can target Oregon's A'Mauri Washington, Scott's current teammate, Ahmad Moten Sr., or Oklahoma's David Stone.
TE Trey'Dez Green, LSU
In the latest ClutchPoints' 2027 NFL Mock Draft, LSU tight end Trey'Dez Green goes well before the second Titans' pick. However, we are higher on this player than most, so if he is available in the 20s or even 30s, when Tennessee picks again, Green could be a great pick.
The 6-foot-7 pass catcher, who also played basketball for the Tigers, is as unique a weapon to come out of college in the last decade. If the right coach or offensive coordinator gets their hands on Green, he could be special. For the Titans, adding another huge target to their arsenal could do wonders for Ward as well.
