Prior to the game, Texas boasted a perfect 5-0 record. They shine as one of the best teams in the country, even stunning then-No. 1 Ohio State 24-23 in Week 2. This paved the way for them to take over the top spot for the next couple of weeks.
However, their control over first place came to an end after losing to Oklahoma. The Sooners had multiple losses as they didn't have a place in the AP Top 25, making the loss detrimental to the Longhorns' championship prospects.
The Associated Press released the newest poll on Sunday. It showed that Texas fell by six spots, going from No. 1 to No. 7. The Georgia Bulldogs now possess the top spot after beating the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday night.

Arch Manning and No. 1 Texas will have to take a hard look at themselves for losing the game to Oklahoma in the way they did. The loss had them drop significantly in the AP Top 25 football poll, showing the stakes a national contender has of being one of the top teams in the country.

The No. 7 Longhorns will look to bounce back in their next matchup, being at home. They host the No. 16 Florida Gators in Week 7 as kickoff commences on Oct. 17 at 12 p.m. ET.
