The Los Angeles Lakers have undergone wholesome changes this offseason. However, the biggest headline-grabbing change remains LeBron James’ exit, who has now formed a super-team with the Philadelphia 76ers.

However, as far as season expectations are concerned, former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas had a unique perspective. Speaking on Gil’s Arena, Arenas claimed that he expects to snag Lakers season tickets on the cheap this season.

“Expect to get season tickets for real cheap this year,” he said. “Them tickets need to go down. It’s like when, you know, it was like Nick Young, Socrates (Robert Sacre) — yeah, the big head n***a.”
Arenas went on to claim that James had taken the same approach as he did during his final years in the NBA, claiming that James simply wanted to prove a point with the Lakers.

“LeBron James did the same s**t I did last year. We took it off. LeBron was the third option trying to prove a point — ‘Oh, this the offense y’all wanna run? Okay,” he said.

Arenas bid farewell to the NBA in 2012 after a lone season with the Memphis Grizzlies. In 17 games off the bench, he averaged 4.2 points, 1.1 assists and 1.1 rebounds per game. Hence, while James may have been the third option behind Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves for considerable stretches last season, the 41-year-old undoubtedly did much better, even starring in the Lakers’ playoff series win over the Houston Rockets.

James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds last season, earning what was the 22nd All-Star cap of his career. Hence, while the mentality may have had some similarities, James undoubtedly remains an elite player, and is likely to be a huge presence on a stacked 76ers roster as well. On the other hand, it remains to be seen whether Arenas ends up actually snagging the season tickets on the cheap.
