Florida football got a big win against Ole Miss this week, and it feels like something is brewing with the program under head coach Jon Sumrall. After the game, Sumrall was asked if this game awakened something within the team, and the rest of the SEC should be put on notice after his response.
“It's not asleep, but it ain't fully awake yet. It's being kinda like stirred up a little bit. We’re gonna get there. It's coming. I promise. I didn't come here for us to be average. We're going to work tirelessly- coaches, players, everybody to put a product on the field we can all be proud of. We had some recruits here this weekend, and if we get a lot of those guys to say yes, we're going to wake the beast up,” Sumrall said via Trey Wallace of FOX Sports.
From the sound of it, Florida is just getting started, and they haven't reached the full potential of where they really want to go. The team they currently have is something to be excited about, especially with the way Jadan Baugh has played to start the season. He's making an early case for the Heisman, and if he keeps playing like this, he should be in the mix at the end of the year.
Right now, Florida wants to focus on what's in front of them, and their next matchup will be against Missouri next week.
Sumrall will have his group prepared, and it will be another opportunity for them to awaken that beast.
