Kevin Stefanski is putting up the warning signs for Nick Folk after the latter struggled in the Atlanta Falcons' 34-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday in Madrid, Spain.
Stefanski is going through his first year as the Falcons' head coach following a decent stint with the Cleveland Browns. He looks to get Atlanta back into playoff contention, boasting talented stars on the offensive side of the ball like Bijan Robinson and Drake London.
However, Folk didn't perform up to his standard in the international contest. He went 1-for-2 on his field-goal attempts while converting two extra-point attempts. Stefanski took note of this after the game, sending a clear message to the veteran kicker after missing the field goal in question.
“I expect Nick to make his kicks. Nick expects to make his kicks. … He knows we're counting on him,” Stefanski said, per reporter Marc Raimondi.
How Kevin Stefanski, Falcons performed against Bengals
Kevin Stefanski and the Falcons have been through numerous struggles this season. Their latest defeat to the Bengals marks a whole set of issues they need to address, including Folk's mishaps in the special teams.
Atlanta did get off to a decent start, leading 10-7 after the first quarter. Cincinnati dominated the game from there on, torching the Falcons 27-7 in the last three periods.
Michael Penix Jr. struggled to get past Atlanta defenders as his production was limited at best. He completed 20 out of 31 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown and an interception.
Bijan Robinson was a major bright spot, commanding the run game with 19 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown while catching six passes for 47 yards. Drake London led receivers with five catches for 68 yards, while Charlie Woerner caught a one-yard touchdown pass.
The Falcons will look to bounce back in their next matchup, remaining at home. They host the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 10 as kickoff commences on Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. ET.
