Since Jalen Hurts' 2026 NFL season came to an end before Week 6, the Philadelphia Eagles have been Tanner McKee's team, and the results have been… mixed.

On one hand, the Eagles offense remains brutally bad, with the occasional glimpses of something good often being overshadowed by poor play calling, poor decision-making, and poor execution. And yet, it's not like it was all that much better with Hurts under center either, with the McKee era only highlighting how much QB1 was producing off script when Philly needed a spark.

Taking some time on Tuesday to evaluate McKee's last three starts, offensive coordinator Sean Mannion gave his fourth-year passer props for continuing to grow, as he's only getting more comfortable with each passing game.

“Yeah, I think it’s always, with the quarterback position, always starts with decision-making. I thought there’s been a lot of good moments in that regard for him. I think there’s other ones that he can learn from and grow from, but the quarterback and the center are the two people that touch the ball on every play. So we’re relying on great decision-making, both pre-snap and post-snap,” Mannion said.

“Tanner does a great job with that. I think there’s some that we can continue to improve on. I think as he’s gotten more practice reps, more work in the game, I’m confident he’ll continue to trend upward. There’s always going to be things to learn from any game, and that goes for all of us. So I think with more and more time, Tanner will grow more comfortable. I think just the one thing that you’re always relying on the quarterback to do is make good decisions. And I think there’s been some growth there and some room to keep growing as well.”

From a purely statistical perspective, McKee's stats are remarkably consistent from game to game, with his passing total sitting between 211 and 2015 yards in each contest and an average of .66 touchdowns and .66 interceptions thrown in each start. While that may not look like progress to an outside observer, if Mannion likes what McKee is bringing to the table each week, it makes sense why he's Philadelphia's guy for the rest of the season.
