The Minnesota Vikings are looking to return to the winning column after suffering their first loss of the season in Week 8. Brian Flores' team is now preparing to face the Buffalo Bills, and the Vikings' defensive coordinator has already shared some high praise for Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

During a recent press conference, Flores discussed Allen's remarkable development since entering the NFL and acknowledged the challenge of preparing to face the Bills superstar.

“Josh is one of the best players in our league, no testament to his work,” Flores said. “I've seen him kind of like when I was in New England, when he started as a rookie. As a rookie and a second-year player, it was, at that time, ‘Hey, keep him in the pocket and make him throw from the pocket because he's not really that accurate.’ And that is certainly not the case anymore.

“And it's fun to watch his growth and development, and watch him develop from where he was as a rookie and second-year player to being in the MVP race yearly and having won one, and probably likely to win some more. He's just one of the best players in our league, so it's definitely a major challenge.”

Allen's performances this season have once again demonstrated why he remains one of the NFL's most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks. The 30-year-old quarterback has completed 135 of 205 passes for 1,793 yards, 11 touchdowns, and five interceptions so far this season.

Buffalo's dominant start is another major concern for Minnesota. Through seven games of the 2026 regular season, the Bills have recorded a 6-1 record, sitting atop the AFC East and establishing themselves as one of the conference's leading contenders.

As a result, Flores knows the upcoming matchup will not be easy for his defense. Moreover, Allen and his teammates are entering the contest with plenty of confidence after outlasting the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. During that victory, the Bills quarterback also surpassed franchise legend Jim Kelly's previous record of 258 career touchdown passes.
