Recently, the Philadelphia Eagles received the news that future Hall of Fame offensive lineman Lane Johnson would be retiring to focus on his mental health. The move comes after Johnson's undisclosed personal reasons absence in Philadelphia's last game, a home loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Now, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has spoken out about the star player's decision.
“Love Lane. I'll miss him dearly, and I wish him the best. Obviously, that's not the end of mine and Lane's relationship. I feel like that's a relationship that will last through our lives,” he said, per Zach Berman of The Athletic on X, formerly Twitter.
Berman also reported that “Markel Bell could have the rest of the season to show he can become Lane Johnson's long-term replacement.”
Indeed, Johnson's abrupt decision leaves the Eagles in a bit of a pickle regarding their offensive line in the short term, but it's still understandably been nothing but love shown from both the organization and its fanbase to the long-time stalwart as he enters the next chapter of his life.

In any case, the Eagles will hit the field for their first game of the post-Johnson era on Sunday against the red-hot Jacksonville Jaguars in England. Kickoff is set for 9:30 am ET.
