It sounds like Bears running back Kyle Monangai should be available for this weekend’s game against the Packers, but he might get some rest during the practice week.

Head coach Ben Johnson told reporters on Wednesday that Monangai’s thumb injury is not an issue for him. But Monangai got a big workload in Sunday’s win over the Jets, which is more of what’s affecting the running back this week.

“He had 30 carries and he feels like he had 30 carries,” Johnson said, via Courtney Cronin of ESPN.

Monangai rushed for 146 yards with two touchdowns in the 23-12 victory. As Johnson mentioned, he had 30 carries but he also had one reception for another touch.

Chicago’s first injury report of the week will be released later on Wednesday.
