On Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Dodgers retook control of their NLDS matchup against the Atlanta Braves with a comfortable road win in Game 3. The Dodgers now sit just one win away from advancing to yet another NLCS, with the Milwaukee Brewers leading the San Diego Padres 2-1 on the opposite side of the bracket.

On the mound for Los Angeles on Tuesday was Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who put together a dominant performance, recording 10 strikeouts and limiting Atlanta to just one run.

Yamamoto only found himself in a jam on one occasion during the win, with the Braves loading the bases with one out at one point in the game, prompting a meeting at the mound.

Katie Woo of The Athletic reported that “(Kike) Hernández leaned over his shoulder while walking away, covered his mouth and offered Yamamoto some parting wisdom. The pitcher nodded in response.”

Yamamoto later described the message as being “very dirty.”

Whatever was said, it clearly got the job done, as Yamamoto escaped the jam after allowing just one run, and largely experienced smooth sailing from then on in the win.

Meanwhile, Braves ace Chris Sale struggled with his pitch count throughout the evening before finally breaking and giving up two home runs to Los Angeles, including one to Hernandez, giving Yamamoto the decisive edge in the highly anticipated pitching duel.

The Dodgers now have a chance to close this series out on Wednesday afternoon, this time with veteran Tyler Glasnow on the mound to try to send the Braves packing.

First pitch for Game 4 of this series is set for 6:00 pm ET, once again from Atlanta.
