The Duke Blue Devils are expected to be one of the best teams in the nation once again this season amid a strong mix of returning talent and incoming new players. One player who is on pace for a big leap is Duke senior guard Caleb Foster, who was recently received a tough injury update, as per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

But Duke fans shouldn’t worry as the ankle injury that Caleb Foster suffered is not expected to keep him out for the Blue Devils’ season opener on Nov. 2 against Army, as per head coach Jon Scheyer.

Foster has steadily improved each season he’s been at Duke, going from being part of the second unit, to seizing a starting role last year as a junior. He appeared in 33 games, including 30 starts, at a little over 24 minutes per game. The former Oak Hill Academy standout averaged a career-best 8.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists with splits of 44.7 percent shooting from the field, 39.8 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 58.2 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

Foster also averaged a career-best 6.8 shot attempts overall, and 3.0 attempts from 3-point range. He is expected to be one half of the Blue Devils’ starting backcourt along with John Blackwell Jr. whom Duke added via the transfer portal.

In addition to Foster, the Blue Devils have strong returners in Patrick Ngongba II, Cayden Boozer and Dame Sarr. Joining Blackwell as newcomers include freshman Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje, Deron Rippey Jr., Cameron Williams, Bryson Howard, Maxime Meyer and Nick Arnold, and transfers Drew Scharnowski and Jacob Theodosiou.
