Tropical Storm Isaias Is causing the date of an HBCU homecoming game to be moved due to the threat. The Alabama State homecoming matchup against Florida A&M is now set to be held on Friday at 11:05 am, after originally being slated to kick off on October 10 at 3 pm. Due to the change, the game, which was slated to be broadcast on HBCU Go, will now be broadcast on SWAC TV. Both Alabama State and Florida A&M announced the change in a statement sent to the university communities.
“The Homecoming football game against Florida A&M will now be played on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 11:05 a.m. All other Homecoming activities scheduled between Friday and Sunday have been rescheduled, with additional details forthcoming,” Alabama State Athletics Department said in a statement. “The safety and well-being of Hornet Nation remain our highest priority. University officials are closely monitoring weather conditions and will continue to assess any potential impacts. Additional updates will be shared as information becomes available.”
According to the National Weather Service, on Wednesday, the tropical storm is going to hit the northern Gulf Coast on Friday, causing severe weather, including heavy rainfall, high winds, tornadoes, and flash flooding. The timing of the tropical storm's movement falls in line with Alabama State's homecoming festivities and, specifically, the homecoming game's original date and start time of Saturday.
