Although it's only the Suns' first preseason game, Dillon Brooks has already gotten into an altercation. This time, he found himself on the wrong side of new Detroit Pistons forward John Collins.
Early in the Pistons-Suns matchup on Monday evening, Brooks was matched up with Collins in the paint. They played physically, and Brooks eventually shoved Collins. Collins flies in for the rebound and crashes into Brooks as Brooks swipes at Collins in hopes of getting the Ball. Collins then lunged for Brooks, grabbing him as teammates looked to separate them.

After the game, Collins spoke about the altercation as a reporter called it a “welcome to Detroit” moment.

You're gonna go out there and compete every night. Guys do what they do, we're gonna play basketball. You can't control every aspect of the game, you just gotta go out there and hoop.”
Brooks has quite a reputation as an irritant in the league. In a September interview with Doug Haller of The Athletic at a youth basketball camp, he said he felt misunderstood.
“As a human being, you have good, and you have a little bit of bad, a little bit of villainy. It's always in moderation, but I feel like people kind of resonate with that.”
Brooks had a phenomenal season with the Suns in the 2025-2026 campaign, averaging 20.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 56 games.
