The Houston Texans are currently gearing up for their upcoming game on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Texans come into this game at 2-5, coming off a bye week after having most recently lost at home to the New York Giants.
The Texans' much-hyped defense has been underwhelming at best so far this season, and now, more information is coming out on how head coach DeMeco Ryans is looking to remedy that.
“Took us back to Pee Wee ball today (DeMeco Ryans tackling drills today). He's reteaching us. Arm tackles don't work in this league,” said star linebacker Will Anderson Jr., via Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 on X, formerly Twitter.
Indeed, the Texans have struggled to finish plays on the defensive side of the ball so far this year, so it's no surprise that Ryans is taking them back to the basics amid their turbulent start to the season.
Meanwhile, the good news for Houston is that they will be taking on the only winless team remaining in the NFL in Los Angeles, which has been on a murderer's row of a schedule of late in route to their dismal record.
The Texans' offense, on the other hand, has performed relatively well so far this year, with CJ Stroud making his case as the long-term solution at quarterback, and making the team's defensive struggles all the more frustrating.
It remains to be seen whether Ryans' unconventional tactics will pay off next week.
In any case, the Chargers and Texans are slated to kick things off on Sunday shortly after 4:00 pm ET from Los Angeles.
