Former India allrounder Yuvraj Singh has been officially announced as Delhi Capitals' assistant and batting coach ahead of IPL 2027. Cricinfo had reported in June that Yuvraj will join Sourav Ganguly in leading coaching roles.
Last week, Capitals had unveiled Ganguly as their head coach. He took over from Hemang Badani, with the change is in line with the arrangement reached between DC's co-owners - GMR Sports India Pvt Ltd and Jindal South West (JSW) Sports - after IPL 2024, which is that each owner will control franchise operations in alternating two-year cycles.
As for Yuvraj, this will be his first formal coaching role. "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Yuvi to the Delhi Capitals family," Parth Jindal, Capitals' co-owner and chairman, said in a statement. "Yuvi is one of Indian cricket's greatest match-winners and someone who has played a pivotal role in mentoring many of the brightest young talents in Indian cricket today. His experience, winning mindset, and ability to connect with players will be invaluable to our squad.
"We wish him all the very best as he takes on his first formal coaching role, and we are excited to begin this new chapter together. His return to the franchise also marks a special moment for everyone associated with the Capitals, and we look forward to seeing him work with Dada and the rest of the staff going forward."
In the past few years, Yuvraj has been credited by several Indian players, including Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh, for playing a key role in their success as batters.
