The Dallas Cowboys have struggled on defense so far this season. Team owner Jerry Jones was recently asked about a trade he made, that sent defensive star Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. Jones is defending that decision, despite his team's current defensive struggles.
“It was reinforced when Green Bay gave us all the picks (and) we’re on plan with how we’re using those picks. We want to have that show up with success in wins on the field. But nothing about that has surprised me at all, and we wished Micah the best,” Jones said, per Cowboys reporter Clarence Hill Jr.
Parsons has not been able to play at all in 2026. He is recovering from surgery, after tearing his ACL during the 2025 NFL season.
“As soon as they give us the green light, he'll be out there,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday, per ESPN. “That hasn't happened yet, but I think we're getting closer.”
This season, Dallas holds a 2-3 record. The Cowboys have allowed 136 points. Dallas is next in action against Parsons' Packers team.
Parsons had hoped to play in that game, but it won't happen. He has been an effective pass rusher for both Green Bay and Dallas when healthy.

Jones has been trying to get the Cowboys back to the Super Bowl for many years. It has been more than 30 years since the Cowboys won the Super Bowl. The wins need to start coming for Dallas this season, or another year will pass without accomplishing that feat.
The Cowboys and Packers play Sunday. Green Bay is 3-2 on the season.
