There was no shortage of blame for the Dallas Cowboys in their loss to the Ravens. And perhaps that’s the reason Jerry Jones is spinning the trade roulette wheel. Also, Jones is big mad about Dak Prescott’s late-game blunder against the Ravens, according to a post on X by Jon Machota.
“Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan acknowledges that they ‘were in such a good position to win that game’ against the Ravens on Sunday. Jones said they are analyzing every aspect of what went wrong in Brazil. On the play where Dak Prescott threw the ball away on third down in the final seconds: ‘There’s no explanation you’re satisfied with. None. Let’s be sure we all understand that. We made mistakes during that time. There are no questions about it.’ ”
Prescott had an open look to star receiver George Pickens at the goal line. But instead, he airmailed it over Pickens’ head. The Cowboys settled for a tying field goal. Then they gave up 27 yards in six seconds. And the Ravens’ Tyler Loop kicked a game-winning 56-yard field goal in a 34-31 decision.
Cowboys expecting more from QB Dak Prescott
This is supposed to be Prescott’s shining season. The Cowboys have one of the top five offenses in the NFL. Maybe it’s the top offense. And they made many changes on defense. But that side of the ball has been hit hard by injuries.
Still, the Cowboys expect Prescott to come through in the late moments of games. He has thrown for 730 yards with seven touchdowns and an interception on the season. But he didn’t come through against the Ravens.
Prescott said he knows the Cowboys let one get away, according to dallascowboys.com.
“Yeah, it just sucks,” Prescott said. “Not a lot of words or full explanation of it. Defense shouldn’t even have been in that position. Those guys were over there saying, ‘it’s on us,’ absolutely not. We’ve got to put the game away, period.
“First drive, third and the fourth drive, not getting it on fourth down, not scoring a touchdown on the last drive, I could go back pretty much to every drive.”
