The Washington Commanders are hoping to turn their season around, and it all starts in the Week 8 “Sunday Night Matchup” against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, righting the ship might be a tad difficult now after the latest injury update for Daron Payne suggests he should be going to the IR.

Reports indicate that the 29-year-old defensive tackle sustained a significant foot injury during Friday's practice, according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network. It's said that Payne will be ruled out for an indefinite amount of time, and a trip to the IR is likely.

“Commanders standout DT Daron Payne suffered a significant foot injury today in practice that will knock him out for the foreseeable future and likely land him [on] IR, sources tell me and Mike Garafolo,” Rapoport posted on X. “Payne will undergo more evaluations tomorrow. But another tough blow for Washington.”
